1. The short version
Snowbox uses a limited amount of information to run the game, save your progress, support multiplayer, and understand what needs improving. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
2. What we collect
If you create an account, we receive basic account details such as your email address, display name, profile image, and sign-in provider. We also save game information tied to your account, including progress, unlocks, settings, resorts, parks, and shared creations.
While you play, we collect session and gameplay activity such as features used, tricks, builds, multiplayer rooms, and messages you send. We also receive ordinary technical details like your browser and device type, language, screen size, referring page, and a random session identifier. We do not collect precise real-world location trails.
Some settings and guest progress are kept in your browser using local storage, session storage, or IndexedDB. That information stays on your device unless a feature needs to sync it online.
3. How we use it
We use this information to sign you in, save and restore your game, run multiplayer and social features, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, fix bugs, and make Snowbox better. Chat messages and reports may be reviewed when needed for moderation or safety.
4. What other players can see
Your display name, avatar, multiplayer activity, chat messages, and anything you choose to publish or share may be visible to other players. Please avoid putting personal or sensitive information in your name, messages, parks, or resort creations.
5. Services that help us run Snowbox
Snowbox uses Google Firebase for services such as sign-in, hosting, databases, and file storage. These providers process only the information needed to provide their services. We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect Snowbox and its players.
6. Storage, retention, and security
Usage events are generally set to expire after 60 days. Account data, saved progress, shared creations, messages, and moderation records may be kept longer when they are still needed to provide the game, keep the community safe, or meet legal obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online service can promise perfect security.
7. Your choices
You can play many parts of Snowbox as a guest, choose what you share, and clear locally stored game data through your browser. You may also ask to access, correct, or delete personal information connected to your account. If you are not old enough to consent to online services where you live, please use Snowbox with a parent or guardian.
8. Questions or changes
We may update this policy as Snowbox changes. The date above will show the latest revision. For privacy questions or requests, reach out through the community channels linked on snowbox.io. We're a small team, but we'll do our best to help.
